Michigan Mobile Sportsbooks Possible In January

The Michigan Gaming Control Board expects online sportsbooks and online gaming to go live in mid-January.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) said online sportsbooks and casinos will be unveiled in mid-January. The board approved provisional licenses for 15 different platform providers for commercial and tribal casinos’ sportsbooks and casinos on December 10.

Among those selected: William Hill, FanDuel, BetMGM, Churchill Downs, DraftKings, Parx Interactive, Golden Nugget Online Gaming, PointsBet, Rush Street, and FOX Bet.

“The platform providers still must meet other regulatory requirements before online gaming and sports betting can launch in Michigan. The date will depend on how quickly they can fulfill the requirements,” Richard S. Kalm, MGCB executive director, said in a press release.

Conditions include testing the games and obtaining approval of internal controls. The operators can establish their accounts, but wagers cannot be accepted until Board approval.
