Colorado Sports Betting Stock Rises

Fueled by the return of major league sports, Colorado sportsbooks ranked among the Top 5 markets for the month of July. Sportsbooks generated almost $60 million, and could also see a boost for August.

Thanks to the return of Major League Baseball and the NBA, Colorado’s sportsbooks generated almost $60 million in July, making it a Top 5 market in the U.S. With new operators coming online, it should do even better when August figures are released.

July’s handle resulted in $2.4 million in net betting proceeds, up 11.4 percent from $2.2 million in June. The state realized $241,867 in taxes.

Baseball attracted $9.2 million in bets and soccer took in another $7.6 million. With just a few days of NBA games, basketball produced $3.2 million in wagers. Still, table tennis brought in $5.1 million.

Even with the opening of Colorado’s first retail sportsbooks, online sports betting at the 11 online locations, accounted for 99 percent of the handle.
