“Abby and the Arts” Stay at Home Art Contest sponsored by Absecon Lighthouse

Absecon Lighthouse is sponsoring a Stay at Home Art Contest, “Abby and the Arts.” Submissions will be accepted through Friday, May 15, 2020.

Absecon Lighthouse is sponsoring a Stay at Home Art Contest, “Abby and the Arts,” to inspire a lasting love of the arts in Atlantic City. Absecon Lighthouse will be awarding cash prizes for 1st , 2nd , and 3rd place to Atlantic City schoolchildren who submit original artwork using Absecon Lighthouse as inspiration in the following categories:

  • Drawing/Painting
  • Photography
  • Poetry

The contest is open to Atlantic City students, grades 1st through 12th.  One submission per student is allowed.  Submissions will be accepted through Friday, May 15, 2020, at 3pm.  Winners will be announced at the Reopening Celebration, the specific date of which is to be determined.  All submissions will be on display at the lighthouse, and the winners will be selected by a panel of local artists and arts administrators.

Absecon Lighthouse is a state-owned historic property administered by the non-profit Inlet Public/Private Association.  Located at 31 So. Rhode Island Avenue in Atlantic City, it is open to visitors Thursdays through Mondays, 11 am to 4 pm.  Absecon Lighthouse received a general operating support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, and a stabilization grant from the New Jersey Cultural Trust, both divisions of Cultural Affairs in the Department of State.
